Last week we had a great start to the Palma Boat Show 2025!
Together with our partners Upwind Legal and Clyde & Co., we had the pleasure of co-hosting the exclusive Yachting Apéro at the beautiful Yara Restaurant in Puerto Portals. Limited to just under 30 guests — including yacht owners, owner representatives, brokers, lawyers, tax advisors, captains, and charter brokers — joined us for an evening dedicated to meaningful connections and powerful exchange.
The true highlight of the afternoon was our dynamic panel discussion, featuring industry experts Julia Wiechell, Martin Malinowski, Tim Schommer, Sabrina Fischer, and Alicia Vázquez. Co-moderated by Anthony Galea and Georg Oehme, the discussion was insightful and interactive, and discussed real cases based on the experience of the experts there.
Session 1 focused on addressing common pitfalls in the yacht purchase and sale process, sparking engaged debate around Letter of Intents, jurisdiction clauses and guarantees provided by shipyards during new build projects. We also discussed the provisions relating to the sea trials and condition surveys and the definition of what constitute a damage.
Session 2 offered hands-on perspectives on setting up a successful yacht charter business—touching on operational, VAT, and legal considerations.
The open dialogue and enthusiastic participation from our audience made this more than just a panel—it became an engaging conversation between industry professionals, including brokers and captains.
We rounded off the evening with a sunset drink on the terrace, enjoying good company, delicious snacks, and the great view on the yachts in the Puerto Portals marina, expertly hosted Yara Portals Restaurant manager Jose M H Etura.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening — we’re already looking forward to the next edition wherever in Europe that may pop up!
